The Holidays

Well, It,s that time of year again, and if your in the hair business you know all to well that it could be good or bad.I work in a walk-in only salon and business has not been very good I think with gas going up that may hurt as well. But I think that things will work out in the long run.

My day at work

Today was a fairly slow day, that is until one of my regulars called and asked if she could come in for color, I gladly said yes. She wanted to be an ash blond and cover her gray. After looking at her hair I decided to go with a 9a, 11a, and 510 from the socolor line by matrix. I'm glad I went with that color she loved the outcome and I pleased yet another client.

History of cosmetology

cosmetology is the art and science of beautifying and improving the skin, and hair. The term comes from the Greek work kosmetikos, meaning skilled in the use of cosmetics. Egyptians were the first to cultivate beauty in an extravagant way.

Structure Of The Hair

The integument is the outer covering that encloses the entire body.This includes the hair, skin, and the nails. Full grown hair has two parts ,the hair root and the hair shaft.The picture to the left is the hair shaft. The hair root is located below the surface of the scalp, and the shaft is the portion projected above the skin.
